- For MALES: The quality of the recording will improve if you shave before you leave your house to come here. If you have a full beard or mustache you do not have to shave.
- For FEMALES: One person may accompany the patient during preparation/hook-up for sleep study. Depending upon space availability the person may stay all night.
- For PARENT or GUARDIAN of CHILD: One person may accompany & stay here with the child during sleep study. Please feel free to bring the child’s favorite movie, toys, blanket, etc.
- DO NOT discontinue any medications that are sleep-related. Discontinue sleep related medications ONLY as directed to do so by physician from the Garden City Sleep Center.
- Please bring a list of all medications (and dosages) that you are currently taking.
- Please do not use excessive caffeine or alcohol after 2:00 p.m. on the day of your over-night study.
- As the hook-up procedure may involve some waiting, please bring something with you to do (books, magazines or a VCR tapes).
- Bring comfortable two-piece night clothing to sleep in. If you have them, a two-piece, button-down, pajama is best.
- If you have a pillow that you prefer using, please feel free to bring it with you; but do not forget to take it home with you in the morning.
- Most of our overnight studies are completed by approximately 6:15-6:45 a.m. If you will be staying for nap studies, you can anticipate being ready to leave the sleep center at approximately 4:00-6:30 p.m. due to what time the nap study begins.
- If you consulted this clinic for problems related to excessive daytime sleepiness, make sure that somebody drives you to the sleep center and back to you home in the morning. Remember: excessive sleepiness may be dangerous when you drive. If you absolutely cannot find anyone, try to use public transportation. If this isn’t possible either, speak to our office to discuss the problem.
If you have any further questions related to this information, please feel free to call the sleep center during regular business hours at = PHONE ?>.
IMPORTANT: When making sleep appointment please remember to make a follow up visit appointment as well. This should be done 2 days to 1 week after sleep study. This appointment is to review the sleep study.
